RAP – DEMO LEAGUE WITH SUPPORT OF PALILULA MUNICIPALITY

Informal rap artist, have the opportunity that within “RAP – DEMO LEAGUE 2011”, from 11th March in the club “Svit”, weigh their strengths before the home crowd. For this unique music manifestation, which brings together mostly students, so far applied 16 young rappers. Competition will be held every Friday until 15th April, and applying for participation is possible and during the manifestation. This activity of young supported and City Municipality of Palilula. According to organizer of this competition, Mihaila Ristovica, already affirmed DJ, on this idea to organize “REP – DEMO LEAGUE 2011” in Nis, came with his colleague Alexander Julovski. We imagined that every Friday, from this week, to the Nis` audience present the four performers, where two passes to the next round, but their number will increase by night, if in the meantime some more group sign up – says Ristovic. Fifth week is semifinal, sixth final, when the jury will select the winners of the competition.

According to Ristovic, the jury will be composed of eminent rap performers, that will change every Friday, and at final night about winner will decide Shmac Daddy, Bdat Yutim and Cey Defense. Awarded the first prize will receive a cash award of 10.000 RSD and recording songs in professional studio, for second place is prepared award of 7.000 RSD and recording instrumental song, while the third prize is 5.000 RSD. Interested informal rappers can apply on the facebook profile “Rap demo league”, facebook.com/rep.demoliga,  in the person at the club “Svit”. RAP as music style of expression foster  the cult of contemporary topics that are senses, hence reconstruct and criticize their structures, developing a sense of distinguishing positive from negative, although at first glance a naïve observer can do that only promotes it.

Gathering of this kind of music potentials at one place, measurement of their style and showing open attitudes, it is a way to engage intellectual and commercial. With the marketing side, this would be good move, because is interested for this competition already very much around the whole country, considering bigger popularity of the rap music and hip - hop culture. That gathering will give the City of Nis stronger emphasis on South Serbia as the center of this kind of manifestation, region which is due to the current social situation seems quite neglected.
